The staff was very cold and not exactly welcoming. The food was decent…. No real complaints…. Took awhile for just about empty restaurant/Deli. The special chicken salad tasted like suspiciously like Costco chicken salad…. So that was humorous and gave us all a good chuckle. Interior could use some sanitation upgrades… lead paint pealing from ceiling, broken fans that were missing blades…. They don’t look like they’ve ever been cleaned.. The sweet was coming out of a bucket…. One would question the sanitary nature of this. But all in all….. worth a stop
Absolutely stellar food. Southern cooking’ with an offering of well over 15 sandwiches, all very unique. The atmosphere is beyond cozy. This place has been open since before I was born, and as a matter of fact my mother worked there when she was in high school! Fantastic place for lunch. I cannot recommend it highly enough!
Wonderful neighborhood restaurant. Low key, lots of good choices on the menu. Nice fat sandwiches come with a choice of a side Not your typical ingredients, but enhanced with lots of fresh greens, nuts or fruit. White table cloths and quick service. Note to self: Go back to sample the extensive dessert treats.
Food was excellent. Wait staff was very good. Great place for a business meeting. I gave service 3 stars because the lady at the register was miserable and lazy.

This spot is a hidden gem! I started working in the Oakwood area so that's how I found out about Side StreetIt's a great place for lunch.
Had lunch here for the first time, and it was fantastic! Reasonably priced and food was excellent. Will be back.
Very traditional Raleigh NC restaurant. I would highly recommend it for lunch. Very good sandwich offerings.
We've been fans for many years! It's one place that stays consistently good! Love that Hot Sicilian!
