"Suggest you book or get there early as very popular with locals and advised by accommodation . Food was really tasty and plentiful , the dessert table holds all the favourites and again plentiful . I saw takeaway dessert boxes so locals pick up their treats as well. Inside is cosy and packed so enjoyed outside table ..seemed to be protected from Le Mistral .Service , even though restaurant packed was efficient and pleasant."

After reading the reviews I thought, "why not". We were in the neighborhood. It was 2:30 pm and hot. We sat outside. I ordered the chicken salad, reviewers said it was Hugh. I ask the waiter if we could split it and he said, "no". Ok there. He said my husband could sit there if he ordered the smallest thing, "dessert". So he ordered dessert, almond raspberry cake and me, the chicken salad. His cake came with a spoon the size of a serving spoon. I ask if he could have a fork and the waiter said, "no".Here's the rundown. Simple food. The chicken salad was mostly pre-made with cold lentils, cold baked potato, cold rice, cold hard boiled egg, cold salad greens, cold breads The 5, 1/4 by 3 inch chicken strips were deep fried. The cake was wonderful and huge. I would never eat here again. The waiter was sour and rigid. Really...one can't share & really...cake must be eaten with a serving spoon? Oh and one more very important thing THEY DON'T TAKE Credit cards! No where is that stated. Not on the door and not on the table and not on the menu

Situated quite centrally, this is a delightful place to enjoy some tea and cake (or whatever else they happen to be offering at the time). There is an interior with a few tables and cakes on display, but most of the seating is on the pavement. There is some traffic but it is a side street so not too busy. Our iced tea, lapsang souchong, pear and polenta tatin and scones were both excellent and generous portions. The jams were tangy and home made. It's a bit like what the Brits like to think of as a traditional English tea house, but with a French twist (ie its rather better than most tea houses I have visited in England). It is also very close to some excellent boutique shopping, so that area makes a good afternoon out with a great tea break to recover.

Simple Saimon is an English restaurantThey serve mainly saladsThey have an amazing choice of home bakes cakes/dessertsThere salads were actually superb - the chicken version was huge and came not only with a huge portion of very well cooked/dressed chicken but a great variety of veg and other salad stuff plus a baked potato! So much of Avignon is 100% touristy - the quieter streets are a dream - the best bits take a bit of finding and usually not too near the Palais des Papes - this is worth seeking out for sureLUNCHTIME ONLYquaint indoors / shady terrace outside / superb coffee / nice bits of cake with coffee!

We went to this place based on reviews online. The set up itself was great but the food was simple superb. The plate was big and set so well. The plate was extremely colour coordinated. I wouldn't call this place a plain English tea house since this is indeed a tea house with a French twist to the food served. Fusion of best of both worlds. The service is very friendly and helpful. The best thing about this place was nothing was OTT. Will happily go there again before I leave Avignon.
