After visiting Lourmarin, in the Luberon, for the Friday market, we escaped that extremely busy village and it's inflated prices and headed to nearby Cadenet - a living village (rather than a touristy one). 'Sous les Platanes' was our third choice - the first informed us that we'd have to wait a long time for a meal, the second told us their restaurant was full, while the third greeted us with a smile! The four of us chose a table in front of the restaurant under the Platane trees where most other tables were already occupied. The 'formule du midi' offered sufficient choice per course and all our selections proved to be well cooked, well presented and delicious. Service was very prompt and with politeness. Additionally the prices were very reasonable. Recommended.
This was a great restaurant and Philippe Collins the chef/ owner attended to us personally. Food and service was impressive and it didn't break the bank. Pity the village could do better with a bit of sprucing up. Lovely ambience and a remarkable example of attention to dinner service and your customers. The myth that French restaurants are stuffy and have rude waiters did not hold true at all! We had a great time. Cheers to all its staff. Worth the hunt for it.
For reasons outside our control, we had to stay the night in Cadenet.....and totally lucked upon this little wonder of a restaurant.Friendly professionaly service from our waitress and the owner.....Great food, well presented and perfect tasty plates. I was recommended the pork chop off the menu and it was superb....with a rich jus that made this tasty meal fantastic.Great little place i would recommend going out of your way to visit.......
