Located in Rockridge/North Oakland?, this neighborhood gem ? won 't disappoint. It is also the little sister of Wood Tavern, which is located next door. Before we get to the menu and the food, I need to mention how stylish this place is. Great spot for a mid-day lunch by yourself, with a date, or for a quick business meeting with a nice selection of beers on tap ?? a couple of wine options??. You can sit at the bar, which gives you a high end diner experience w/o the price, the wall area is perfect for a solo lunch, or at the bar to ceiling window which opens directly to the street. After 24 hours traveling from the depths of the Amazon rainforest, dirty, hungry and worn away from the road, Southie provided a shelter that cannot be easily rewritten here. The sandwiches were both top of the class, the potatoes and soup can have been or not the best soup of the decade and the staff was incredibly beautiful and attentive. Overall a complete victory for us. Can?t recommend to come here enough. We?
Literally cannot express just how great these guys are. The service is amazing. The food is fabulous!! Work in the neighborhood, and come up on our lunch break on a semi-regular basis. It?s one of the only places that we can count on for amazing FAST service. So so glad this place is still thriving!!!
I came here as a solo diner because there was a long wait at Wood Tavern next door. I think my experience here at Southie exceeded what it would?ve been at Wood. The staff was so kind. My food was delicious. Vibe was laid back but still professional. Can?t recommend dinner at Southie enough.
