Impastato's is owned by the brother of Sal of Sal Judy's fame. Some of the dishes are very similar to what you can get at Sal Judy's but some are very different and still very tasty. I've enjoyed all of the food I've had and there are still many dishes here I still want to sample. The service has always been very excellent and the servers have made some very good food and wine recommendations. Absolute worst dining experience. Loud restaurant. Took an hour to order, we were there 2.5 hours and had to raise hell to get any sort of service. Other than picking up the speed, the restaurant offered no consolation. And we had reservations…we were celebrating an event. There were people who came and went around us and all we had gotten was bread….it took me asking 3 separate people and fussing that we had been there an hour even to get our bread. Our table ate the whole basket of crackers because we were hungry and my autistic child was starting to act out due to being so hungry. My family has been there before and liked it. Simply devine! Food and service are always amazing. It's such a pleasure to visit Impastatos. They have become our special occasion destination, and our just want a really good meal with really nice people destination. I make it a point to bring friends and family here whenever the opportunity presents itself if they have never been, because I just need them to eat here at least once because it is so good. I appreciate their standard of care and quality especially in this day, because finding a restaurant that is good every time you go is so rare. They are a true gem!
First and foremost "Impastato 's was a recommendation from a New Orleans business owner. It lived up to every expectation that I had. We had the best server, her name was Gina. We were visiting from Tennessee for the weekend and wanted good seafood. My sister and I had a five course meal for less than $100.00 dollars for us both. It was very delicious and the pasta was made in house along with their salad dressings and bread desserts. I highly recommend this Italian Family owned Restaurant. One of my favorite Italian restaurants that is consistent with its presentations. Soft shell crab is about the best one I ever had. I order it with the 5 course meal and it’s a bargain for the amount of food you get. The homemade pastas are delicious and their homemade house salad and dressing is a crowd pleaser. The blueberry banana desert is addictive. The staff is always pleasant and Mr Joe is very accommodating. I usually go solo and get there early at opening, therefore I never need a reservation.
Mr. Joe I should have read the menu more carefully as the Fresh Fish Payton dish was a little bland and tasted like tilapia. I didn't complain but it was overcooked. I will stick with the traditional Italian dishes next time such as the veal parmesan or the chicken parmesan.
