I have no idea how long Sushi Jones has been open for, but somehow, I had managed to miss noticing its street location near the Dan Murphy’s in Alexandria for all of this time. Wasted time, I might add Sushi Jones was great. There was a varied Japanese menu from small dishes to hot pots to rice dishes to sushi and sashimi plates. Had lunch outside to enjoy the nice weather. We order at the table with hot food off the menu and a small selection of cold items from the fridge. The set up was cute and the staff were lovely We ordered udon with tempura vegetable as well as staff recommended ramen with chicken katsu. The udon was ok as was the ramen. Nothing to write home about. These was an absence of that complex flavoured steaming hot broth that makes a ramen. The chicken was fatty and lacked seasoning to make that an enjoyable aspect We tried two tables, both were wobbly. Dinner is better here. Overall, an average experience.
The sushi range is very small and kept in plastic containers in a fridge that you take to the counter. After they told me that, I decided to take it away but maybe if you eat in, they put it on a plate, which is pretty wasteful. It’s clearly a sideline and they really should take “sushi” out of their name. However, the fish was good quality and the prices seemed lower than many places. There is a good menu of cooked Japanese dishes that looked to be good and quite large for the prices.
pretty good casual place. they have both inside and outside seats. I have the main dish “Teriyaki Salmon” – reis with bio quinoa, kartoffelmaisch (they cannot see it, but it is under the salmon), mixed leaf salad, teriyaki lachs and lotus root chips. comes with miso suppe for this place also has many vegetarian, vegan and gf options! service was good and eating came out quickly.

every court was great, no mistakes. very good local joint, wrenchless and casual we ordered crab cream chains. super creamy yum the tsukunes entree sashimi with aburi salmon aburi salmon roll cold soba (which is not on the menu, but she did it for us! she uses fresh wasabi that we very appreciated as the very rare sashimi was fresh yum
Sushi Jones is not a big restaurant. There is always a queue at weekday lunchtime. It provides the best Japanese food in Alexandria. I tried the karaage chicken curry and it was great. Price was reasonable too Overall, the restaurant is good but it is not impressive enough I would make a long drive for it.
This is great local Japanese restaurant and is very popular with local families. The food is excellent light and fresh and the staff are always very accomodating especially the owner.
Delicious salmon salad. We tried few dishes and all were commendable. I have had better Takoyaki elsewhere. The ambiance and service is great. Would visit again.
