I cannot believe it's taken me so long to write a review for this place. THIS restaurant is the place to go for sushi in Santa Cruz. I've been going here for a little over two years now and it's absolutely the only place I go anymore for sushi. Incredible service, fresh fish, and just the most delicious rolls you've ever had. The fish melts in your mouth and basically the whole menu is delicious. The only thing I'd say is the miso soup is a bit overly salty, but that's never been a problem for me. Can't recommend Sushi Totoro ENOUGH! GO HERE!!
We've been going to sushi Totoro for 20 some years now. I'm guessing it's changed ownership over these years?? Whoever is running it now is doing a top-notch job.Service is excellent, miso soup is absolutely delicious, and sushi is so fresh and wonderful. Easy to understand menu with great choices. It is a small cozy restaurant and don't let the small strip mall atmosphere turn you off. You'll have a great lunch or dinner!
LOVE!!! One of my favorite sushi joints in Santa Cruz so far! Tried the Lion roll, dragon roll, and two others and all were so generous with their toppings/fillings. Everything tasted super fresh as well! Also loved the ambiance, and I was super stoked to see the amazing studio ghibli-inspired mural. Takeout was easy and was still in perfect shape after a car ride. So excited to come back and try some more rolls!
I had a great experience at Sushi Totoro! I called in advance to make a reservation for a group of 7, and when we arrived, the tables were already prepared for us. The service was excellent and the food was incredibly delicious. I will definitely be returning to Sushi Totoro if I find myself in Santa Cruz again. I give it a perfect 5 out of 5 for the food quality.

This sushi restaurant has a charming theme and serves delicious sushi. It is often busy, which can sometimes result in slower service, but I appreciate the popularity of the place. The vegetarian option, the One Night Stand roll, is a definite favorite.
Fairly-priced, decent sushi on the west side. Very nice staff! I’ve found more authentic product elsewhere, but for something quick and down the street after a long week, this will work!
Excellent sushi and rolls staff was very focused on pick up to go orders vs dining in customers 1 star). Might be a better service experience if you sit at the sushi bar...
The sushi here is soo good! They even gave me a free soup staff is friendly small place very cute! If you enjoy a good rich flavorful rolls this is the place to be!

I really enjoyed the nod to the show. The atmosphere was lively and the service was top-notch. The food was decent, I would rate it 4 out of 5.
