Worst restaurant experience we have had in a long time. So bad that it deserves a review warning. We had a Sat. night reservation for my sister’s birthday. We have young kids at home, she is going through a divorce and we were so excited for a nice evening out. However, the evening was basically ruined because we were so rushed the entire time. I recently visited Sycamore and unfortunately, my experience was far from pleasant. Upon walking in, instead of being greeted warmly, we were met with a frown and a brusque What can I do for you? This unwelcoming demeanor set a negative tone right from the start. When we asked if we could get a table, the host simply pointed us to the bar without any further explanation or courtesy. This left us feeling like an inconvenience rather than valued guests. The service at has significant room for improvement. Went here for the first time with a friend. The service here is outstanding. Everyone is so friendly and attentive. Had the tuna meatballs which was honestly not something I would typically go for and all of the flavors were well balanced and delicate. The falafel entree was cooked to perfection (not too dry or falling apart). Both my friend and I ordered the hot yoga cocktail which one staff member described as “summer in a glass” and I have to agree! Everything was delicious. Hope to be back soon to see what the summer menu offers.

Sycamore restaurant in Newton, Massachusetts, is an absolute hidden gem. From the first bite of the smoked bluefish pâté to the last morsel of the crispy Berkshire pork belly, every dish was an exquisite delight. The whipped local goat cheese and local fluke ceviche were equally impressive, each made from scratch with exceptional attention to detail. The staff were warm and attentive, enhancing an already stellar dining experience. Sycamore has earned a spot in my top three favorite restaurants in New England. Highly recommended!
We just moved to the neighborhood and wanted to try a restaurant in the area after a long day. Little did we know we found our new fav. restaurant! The service was amazing from owner/ chef Dave, our server Kate, and the bartender. All drinks and food to die for! As someone with celiac (gluten free), I also want to make note of how safe I felt eating here. I asked what I could/ could not eat and our server Kate was extremely knowledgeable on the menu and allergens. Already can’t wait to go back! Absolutely phenomenal all around.
Nice atmosphere and delicious food but staff was so rude it felt otherworldly. Attitudes all dialed up to 100%. The host have had the opposite of a greeting and literally had a face on like he smelled something bad. Would not personally go again even though food was very good because I think life is too short to have people giving you that sort of attitude as a patron.
I have never been treated so rudely at a restaurant before. We had a reservation for my birthday and were rushed the entire time (I assume they overbooked). We didn’t feel welcome and it made for a very uncomfortable and unpleasant experience. Even through the food was delicious, I would never return.

Fine dining experience in Newton, worth trying and coming every season as they change their menu depending on the farmers produce. The staff is friendly and recommends dishes according to your taste and preferences, nothing disappointed. We will go back for sure. You should try it.
