I am giving 2 stars because the atmosphere was great and the cheese curds were very good. Everything else was very disappointing. The service was slow and our server was not attentive at all. It took almost 20 minutes just to get our drinks. I was brought a little 8 ounce cup of sprite full of ice and my wife got a very light pour of the house merlot. Then my server charged me twice for the sprite. To be fair the other tables got better service than we did. As I stated before the fried clock shadow cheese curds were good. We were here for a wedding. The event was at the hotel and was great from a guest 's point of view. The lodging experience not so much for a highly touted and rated hotel. No one at valet or bell at check in (and it was raining). Similar situation at checkout when the valet didn 't help with bags, just handed us the keys. Room service food in the hall across from room and we called to have it taken away but it was still there hours later and called again. Gym is substandard and no pool (except for relaxation pool in spa area. It just wasn 't top notch for this class of hotel and the expense.
To be fair, it seemed like other tables received better service than we did. While the fried clockshadow cheese curds were tasty, the calamari fell short of expectations. The ahi poke bowl was especially disappointing—it resembled a poorly prepared ahi tuna salad served over somewhat tough rice noodles. It’s clear the chef isn’t familiar with making authentic ahi poke. On a positive note, I overheard another guest say the mahi tacos were excellent. Overall, it appeared that other diners had a much better experience than we did.

Had to wipe the table off myself before I sat down. Two bartenders were behind the bar on their phones. Nobody offered to come to my table, so I went to the bar to order my own beer. Watched servers, bartenders and hostess walk past garbage under a table on the deck countless times. Manager was wandering aimlessly and didn't appear to care about anything. Such a beautiful place on the lake, but lacking someone that cares about guest service and satisfaction.
Sequoia was the sweetest waitress!! She was great, quick and attentive! Burgers were delicious, drinks (we had margaritas and Sangria) were top notch. The hostess, I believe her name is Cate was great as well. Definitely a great stop if you're on Lake Mendota and you want to dock for a drink and a bite to eat!!
Lovely hotel on the water. The staff was attentive and friendly. Ate dinner on the deck at the Boathouse on the water. The service was good and the view was amazing as the sun was setting. I hope to check out the spa during my next visit.
Convenient to stop by when on the lake. Allows dogs at the outside sitting and very attentive. Each dog had water served to them. Loved it! Food was tasty for us as well :

Best burger I have had in quite a bit would recommend. Outside seating was a blast.
Great food and view! Definitely a goal when in Madison in summer.
