I recently attended The Gables for a high Tea for my 50 th on Sunday ,I had high expectations as I had heard great feed back from friends, upon our arrival for our 11.amSitting it took till 11.30 for any food or beverages to arrive on the table . I felt there was a lack of staff , I had to ask for coffee and tea myself at 12.pm as no one had come to the table to offer this . We were given 4 small round pieces of butter for about 10 scones, which I had to ask for more and more milk for our coffee( when we got it ) When they brought my cake out it was warm and icing had started to melt. Having high tea at The Gables has always been a delightful experience in the past. Recently, I visited with a friend after a few years and was disappointed with the service. Our table was uneven and when a staff member tried to fix it, they made a mess and left without properly cleaning up. I had to speak to the hostess, who was very kind and moved us to another table. The champagne service was slow but good. The savory items were decent, but not outstanding. The tea and coffee were served, but not refilled. We recently visited The Gables for a friend's wedding. The venue and gardens are beautiful. Perfect spot for a wedding! Really enjoyed the food and the staff were all incredibly and attentive. The manager (Sue, I believe) in particular was very helpful when we had some questions. However, I haven't given the venue 5 stars because of how crowded the main room was where we were seated. You could barely even walk through to the other side of the room! I also felt like there were not enough staff working. Our waitress was very good but obviously had too much on her plate.

Attended a friends wedding here & it was perfect. The staff were amazing from when we arrived with the bride, rushing to "lock" the groom in his room so he didn't see us to triple checking all the last minute details. The garden is perfect for a small intimate wedding & is a great backdrop for photos. Surprising package. The food was fantastic the chef catered a different menu for dietary requirements like gluten free.
Charming period house with stained glass windows &a crystal chandeliers just beautiful, ribbon sandwiches delightful, scones very tasty with pleasing amounts of jam & cream. The dessert table had many delicious morsels to tempt our taste buds &a that's just what they did, the only down side to our high tea was a very annoying wobbly uneven table but it's not enough to stop me going again.
Sunday High Tea with some friends. Located in a lovely tree lined.road, the Gables is a pretty setting with old school decor. High tea started off with a glass of champagne and had a fair assortment of teas. The dessert buffet was also had a nice variety. The downside - though they cater for vegetarians, they were categorical about not catering for vegans which is a real shame.
We recently visited here for High Tea and we were greatly impressed. It is a lovely old mansion which has been converted into a restaurant. The food and beverage selection was extensive. All of the items on our food tower were very tasty. The scones were very large but well made. Well worth a visit!

A fantastic refurbished old dwelling with great French champagne, excellent food choices and service. A must if you are in the area.
