I find myself at this restaurant every Friday. I wish there was a larger fish and chips shop closer to my home, but this one is currently the best. The long queues, similar to those outside popular restaurants like Din Tai Fung or Pasadena, are a clear indicator of the quality of their food. Although they offer other options, I always go for the traditional fish and chips. I personally prefer the haddock over the cod, which may be unusual, but I like to be different. I'm intrigued by their gluten-free option on Mondays and can't wait to try it. It's hard to pinpoint exactly what sets this fish and chips shop apart from the others, but the fresh fish and perfectly crispy batter certainly play...
This used to be nice. Probably the worst chippy in the area. On so many occasion been very disappointed so now leaving a review and never going back….. Soggy greasy chips portion, fish size gonna smaller, never fresh like it used to be. Now cooked...and left there. Over battered. Some staff never polite and welcoming (bad attitude) Not exactly cheap. You would expect to get what you paid for. I would strongly recommend eating any where but this place
Since lockdown the quality really has plummeted, fish is tiny and not well cooked and the chips are far too soggy and greasy. This place used to be very good, not sure what happened. It's possible it changed ownership and cost cutting has become more...prevalent but I think it's more to do with the staff there who have no clue. They leave the fish out for about an hour on the rack until its served, you pay full price only for cold fish.
I used to believe that this was the top fish and chip shop in the area, but ever since they rearranged things because of covid, I haven't been enjoying the food. The fish is often greasy and the chips are soggy. Additionally, making customers wait outside in the cold and rain doesn't improve the experience. When I inquired about this, they mentioned that they now prefer to operate in this manner.

I used to come to this place all the time, but after lockdown, fish is no longer cooked fresh to order, it is smaller, chips are undercooked an greasy. What's more, the vinegar they use tastes like it was made in a chemical factory. I...won't be coming here again, luckily there are two other chippys nearby with much better quality fish and chips.
Normally cannot fault fish chips from here. Always order boxed to ensure optimum crispiness yet recently very disappointed that chips although boxed were not crisp greasy soggy for weeks running. Is it the type of current potato in use?...Not been back since
I paid for fish and chips in a box. After getting home and opening the box the whole meal looked a disgrace. I ended up throwing most of it away. I wont be going to the good catch in Hale again. How they can...serve that to people is beyond me.
The customer service at this restaurant is excellent, and the fish and chips are delicious. Although the portion of fish was small, it was very tasty. The chips could have been fresher, but overall I would still recommend this place.

We had a very disappointing meal again from The Good Catch. The chips were soggy and burnt, the cod was dry and the curry sauce was congealed. We used to boast that we lived near the best chippy but not anymore!
Thank you Good Catch for helping my mum and her friends in her residential home celebrate her birthday. Lovely fish and chips with Prosecco perfect.
