I took my grandkids out for ice cream yesterday, and it was a very disappointing experience. The ice cream tasted terrible and had a strange texture, as if it had spoiled and been refrozen. We ended up tossing it in the trash. I've never encountered such bad ice cream before. I've dined at this place in the past, and the ice cream was always fantastic. The people at the tables next to us who were eating outside also threw theirs away. We paid $26 for three ice creams, which is outrageous, especially since they were inedible.
The restaurant offers both soft serve and hand-dipped ice cream. We sampled the hand-dipped carrot cake and amaretto cherry flavors. While the scoops were a bit small, the ice cream itself was quite tasty. There is no indoor seating available, but there is a small outdoor area.
I usually go here a few times a year. Good service, top quality ice cream and fresh toppings, and you can sit outside and watch the traffic in your vehicle or on the benches under the customer shed. An Abingdon tradition.
The staff here is incredibly friendly! The ice cream is delicious, and the prices are great. My kids absolutely love the Superman flavor!

so good... the banana split my bfs grandma got was enough for 3 people. I had the hand scooped butter pecan shake and it was delicious
