I've been a patron of the PR since the early 1970s! The place has changed somewhat yet it still has that atmosphere that reminds me of my early visits in 1972 and on through the years! The food is still great and the beer selection along with the whisky choices are even more attractive! What really warms my heart is that my kids and their friends have discovered the PR and are enjoying it themselves!
Player’s Retreat is a favorite restaurant of mine. It is not the usual pub food, but several notches above with always delicious food and special chef offerings in addition to the standard menu. I go as often as I can go this Raleigh institution.
Nice bar. Stopped in randomly for a beer and some fries. Started here and found more bars lol. If you're looking for the party scene go to glenwood not walking distance but still a cool spot to visit.

Best burgers, best staff....always feel like I'm at home. If they have the Korean burger....GET IT!!!! Great wine selection and always a fun beer on tap.
Nice dinner with friends. We brought cake and the girl helped us to pack all the leftovers. The food was very good.
Delicious meal. Great service. Chilly inside with the windows open. I was glad I had a jacket.

"Best tea store in Raleigh!! They have a wall full of bins that they will let you smell. The staff is so knowledgeable about each blend and you can tell that they just love tea : they are very helpful"
