I am a from French speaking student from Toulouse abroad at York University and I have lived in England for years.I was out with friends at a sports social, It was O’clock and I then went to get a first drink for myself...and I was told I was not going to be served! I asked why and the man said it was because I had a too much to drink and he could not understand me because of my accent. I waited for minutes asking to be served and he then told me to go away. I then had to get my friends to come back up with me to the bar. They then ordered me my drinks but the bar staff told me I had to leave because they remembered me from before. A dull uninspiring pub, this was the only place that had availability at lunchtime, however we decided not to stay to eat, we were shown to a table in a dark corner by the staircase we asked if we could move but the second table...wasnt much better. The seating was ripped and the sofa had a hole in it. The Barmaid forgot our drinks, the barman behind the bar come out to serve us.Definately give this one a miss.
The second we entered our server Bran made us feel the most welcome! He took our order almost straight away and not long after our drinks (made to perfection). Overall me and my friends had an amazing time, with great music and exceptional service! I...will definitely be attending this location again!!
My friend was feeling a little down and had been at work all day, she put her head down on the table for a few seconds and we were all told to leave. We had had one drink and after explaining that she was having...a hard time recently they still insisted we leave. Dull pub with rude staff

Came here as part of our trip to York, was very disappointed as the staff couldn’t tell you if a table was available and made a mess of the Covid restrictions. The decor was so dull and dated and there was such a poor selection...of beer on draft. for two pints as well!
as far as York prices go it’s actually one of the only places that serves student friendly drink prices. music can be deafening sometimes and people get chucked out very easily so don’t go here drunk. decent pre spot on a night-out though.
Had a drink in the pub with my wife. Floor extremely sticky and needed mopping in my view (as you walked across the pub your shoes stuck to the floor making a noise as you walked. Not much atmosphere but beer ok.
Very Very Poor Food. We ordered Burgers very dry bun Burger solid and pale. Two bites and I give up. Wouldn’t think you could go wrong with a Burger but they proved you can. Will not be returning.

We were enjoying our trebs when a very audacious waitress called us out on us (a gay couple) were exchanging pecs. The cheek of it! Serious homophobia!
