Sure, it was Monday after all. But what was put together and served up as a light lunch beggared belief. Elaborate in its menu detail, it turned out to be an end of range white bread roll. The kind you get in the supermarket which, if squeezed in one's fist would shrink to the size of a cotton ball. Contained within it was a frankfurter encased in what was supposedly sauerkraut mysteriously sweetened with what I can't guess. Perhaps it was the same mysterious mixture encased within the two steamed tough buns which my partner ordered as pork. So sweet in both. Please go easy on the sugar chef! To top it off the cafe was really cold in surroundings which are noisy and bare...

Salty dog is a really interesting place for lunch or dinner. It has a share roast plate, which is lamb or beef or pork or chicken, and it has some fabulous mushrooms. It also has really nice steaks. The atmosphere is Neapolitan, and the service is quite quick and good.We found the wine list quite credible, and the alcoholic ginger beer was a highlight.Overall the meals aren't that expensive but the quality was very high. The fish which I had was striped trumpeter, which is relatively hard to find in Australia and quite delicious.Salty dog is recommended for lunch or dinner.

I have not been to Kingston Beach since 1969. Took my partner and child for a wander on the beautiful beach just 10 minutes from Hobart and came across this little pub/eatery. The joint was pumping with a Kids party out the back, the restaurant was pumping, the view was great, the pale ale on tap best I've had - we stayed for two peaceful hours having a few drinks and soaking in the atmosphere. This was an old pub that's had a refurb, all I can say is lucky locals. This would be a top spot for a summer holiday with the kids.

Lovely meal here over he road from the beach. Service friendly, pleasant and quick. Surroundings modern and pleasant, nice ambiance to the room. Does have a lot of hard surface as in concrete floor so may be noisy when a lot of patrons. No noise notice today. Good choice on the menu for vegan, meat and fish. Resonably priced. Food good quality and well cooked. A pleasant meal in lovely surroundings. Also lovely range of cakes and biscuits for dessert or morning tea. Reserva una mesa ahora

We had a choice of 2 kinds of meals - regular menu or pasta night. You eat in a different room depending on your choice, for some reason. The bolognese pasta was pretty good, and the iceberg lettuce salad with pears and walnuts was good, if you like iceberg lettuce. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and let us use their internet for free.

We only stopped by for coffees and a light snack and was really impressed with the service here - all with a smile!! The coffees were one of the best barista made coffees we had during our stay in Hobart. A little pricey but it was acceptable for a beachfront restaurant with great views. Hope to see you friendly staff again!!

A quiet lunch with a friend early in the week suggested a lighter style lunch. The broad bean burger appealed but it was hardly small coming in a big bun with salad and caramelised onion and a plate load of chips. Could have been a bit spicier and would have gone well with a spicy yoghurt.

I must be old fashioned, but when they say the fish is served with vegetables that's what you expect not 2 beans, 4 peas and 1/2 a small mushroom and pureed carrot like you have no teeth $32. $12 for a glass of wine. Disappointing. Left hungry. Will not be back. Reserva una mesa ahora
