We have been loyal customers of The Wolfhouse for 16 years, having seen several different owners come and go. In the past, the restaurant was much cleaner and more presentable, but it still remains a convenient, local spot for us to visit. However, our recent experience on Easter weekend was quite disappointing. Despite ordering a coffee and some delicious bruschetta with grilled vegetables and cheese, we waited for 45 minutes without receiving our food. Other customers who had ordered after us were served before us, and when we inquired about our order, the person we believe to be the owner was dismissive and rude. Don 't know what place some of the other reviewers went to but the smiling staff went out of their way to serve us lovely hot soup and brunches even though it was past 'time '; the tea came in pots with real cups, the delicious cakes were served on proper plates. All in all the experience lived up to our memory of previous visits (a good while ago) although reading some of the reviews we were very nearly put off. We will return!
I have been frequenting this restaurant for years. It's a great spot to grab a coffee and a bite to eat. Unfortunately, the owner can be rude when interacting with customers and the place is starting to look a bit run down. In the current challenging times for the hospitality industry, we always try to support local businesses. However, the attitude we experienced during our last visit was completely unnecessary.
They do a delicious steamed salmon ciabatta- always have one when I visit. Bit pricey at £6.75 but plenty of salmon and other salad items , However when I visited yesterday I was still charged £6.75 but when served the ciabatta was the size of a large scone and more salad than salmon ! I understand they have to make a profit and things are getting harder but I won’t be paying that again.

I just returned from enjoying delicious homemade scones and fantastic coffee at this restaurant. The cakes appeared very appealing, and the staff were extremely friendly. Everything on the menu is freshly made and reasonably priced. The cafe is located halfway through our walk and on a cycling route, making it a perfect spot for a pit stop.
The cafe is dirty, as are the plates and cups, the toilet is a no go with a blocked sink. It’s hard to believe that the owner thinks it’s acceptable to serve food and drinks in such a place and for the prices charged. I won’t be returning.
I was thirsty while out walking so called in here for a can of Coke to take away. It was only later that I realised I’d been charged £2.00 for it. I know they have overheads but that’s taking the mick.
Coffee was half full, food sizes tiny, dirty and really expensive. Seating uncomfortable. I hope it improves or changes owner soon, as I used to love this place. Now it is just a rip off.

Lovely area to visit on way back from Jenny Browns point.Enjoyed coffee and delicious brownies.Pleasant outdoor seating.Friendly staff and good service.
