Tonight A group of us met at Theo's to enjoy a meal together after our conference. Some started with Sangria, some with a bottle of Argentinian wine, and some with Southern Pines beer. The location is an old house with rooms. You do need reservations to get a seat normally. It was very loud with several groups in the restaurant. I always found it sad when a restaurants appetizers outshine their main course. Unfortunately that was the case tonight. The homemade bread with olive oil dip was fantastic. We started with some olive oil, olives and feta; the eggplant appetizer semicolon the shrimp in a red sauce, and the chicken sausage. The olives were her the perfect mix of brine and tart, the eg...
The service was painfully slow, reminiscent of molasses crawling uphill in January. Our server seemed to struggle with his words, mispronouncing nearly everything on the menu (not that it mattered much, as the dishes were all disappointing). The soup tasted like dishwater with a splash of bottled lemon juice, and the entrees were bland and unappealing. When my kids asked for Parmesan cheese for their noodles, the waiter informed them there was none available. To top it off, my friend's gyro looked unappetizing and seemed like it had seen better days. Honestly, serving decent food isn't difficult unless you have no interest in providing good service or adhering to basic food safety standards...
The food is delicious, and the wine selection is quite impressive. We appreciated both the interior and exterior decorations of the restaurant. The waitstaff was exceptionally friendly and allowed us ample time to get acquainted with the menu. However, we did find the dining room a bit too cold at 65 degrees, but our waiter promptly adjusted the temperature for us. This restaurant is located in the heart of Pinehurst's historic district. As we've noticed with other dining establishments in this area, prices tend to be higher. For a dinner for two, I would say it's about $15 to $20 overpriced compared to what you would find in a different city. Enjoy the photos!
Now, let’s talk about the food. The best way to describe it is "meh." Given the high prices (we were at the Pinehurst Resort), I expected much more. Unfortunately, there were numerous disappointments: the potatoes were cold and undercooked, the meat was bland, the butter was rock hard (which made for a challenge with the over-steamed bread), and the pita was stale. With an average meal price of $33, I could go on. If you’re looking for better food, I’d suggest trying another place. What a terrible disappointment. We had a good experience back in 2009 when we visited Pinehurst, but fast-forward to 2021, and things are rapidly going downhill. The owner was flat out rude and aggressive with us (and we are nice people! and almost ruined a special birthday for my father-in-law. I was truly shocked by how he treated our group, especially knowing that it was a special occasion. And let's be honest ... this is not going to be the best meal of your life anyway, so please, do yourself a favor, and find another place to visit (Elliott's in town is EXCELLENT .
Ambiance 5 stars Service: 5 stars Wine: 5 starts Food...... 2.5 This place has the potential to be fantastic if they can improve the food quality. I had the lamb chops which were over cooked as I requested them medium rare. They were served with a vegetable medley that was unevenly seasoned and 4 pieces of potatoes. My father ordered the scallops over pasta and the entire dish tasted very fishy. I ordered apple pie for dessert and it was served freezing cold. Highly dissatisfied.
We had lunch here and really enjoyed our experience. Everything we ordered was tasty. The bruschetta was our least favorite dish, as the tomatoes were a bit too mushy. However, the salad was the standout item—it had a wonderful blend of cool and warm ingredients and was simply delicious. The service was excellent, too. Additionally, there's a lovely outdoor seating area.
Excellent Food! Great service. I had hummus and it was fresh and delicious. I'm from the south so when I saw they had a dish with chicken livers I couldn't wait to try it. I'm so glad that I did. Chicken Livers with orzo, vegetables and a light tomato sauce was sooo good. Can't wait to go back and try some of the other items on the menu. Reserva una mesa ahora
