The waitress that served us must of been new! She had NO idea about Vietnamese food. I said I am allergic to Chilli and if there is anything she can recommend that doesnt have Chilli in it because majority of the food on the menu is spicy and she was like, oh there's plenty! She grabbed the menu and scanned it for a while and then stammered, umm yeh most have Chilli unfortunately. But thats Vietnamese food for you, they like their spicy food! My friend and I just looked at her and both said " No thats not true!" Its not normal for Vietnamese food to have Chilli in all their food. The chilli is usually on the side as an accompaniment. I was not impressed at all.The Vietnamese food here is mod...

Another recommendation from my friend especially as I was based on St Kilda so it seem serendipity to be there as I hadn't mentioned I was staying in this neighbourhood. The downstairs was empty and I was going to walk out as it looked closed but saw the stairs leading me to another level. I was immediately greeted by a waitress who showed me a seat at the back of the restaurant. The menu is like tapas and should be treated like it - so more snacky and to be shared rather than one big dish. So I ordered an array of plates such as hapuka on brutal leaf (yummy) due to the fruity additions but only one bite sized portion's worth. A chicken bao was ok but it's really the pho that people come for...

We ordered take our from uncle and having heard mixed things about it, I wasn't sure what to expect, but hey ho it was cheap so why not! We both ordered the pho ga which at $13 was pretty affordable. The ingredients were fresh and of a good quality. Flavours were simple and fairly authentic, but what really impressed me was the presentation. Obviously I'm unsure how it is presented when you dine in but my main ingredients for my pho were in a bowl, the broth was carefully sent separately, and then a separate pack of bean sprout and various herbs, Sriracha etc. to add yourself. I LOVED this as it meant I could get a nice balance of spice for my pho - rather than be limited to the usual plain...

It's probably somewhat unfair to give an "average" score to this contemporary Vietnamese restaurant given that there were all sorts of positive responses from the group I was with. The waiters were busy but helpful. The pho drinkers/eaters were happy. There was nothing wrong with the chicken slaw. The goat shoulder was unexpectedly tender. But there wasn't much on the menu that I wanted to eat; I hate sitting up at high tables; the main courses weren't served with any accompaniments; The wine felt over-priced. Conclusion: a mixed bag but probably worth a visit. Reserva una mesa ahora

Uncle is a super cool and easy place to go for lunch or dinner with a friend, friends or a date. The pho is reasonably priced for a HUGE serving (often cant finish it). Couldnt recommend more as a go to place for when you either 1. crave vietnamese food or 2. need a fun trustworthy restaurant to go to when meeting up for a meal. Only criticism is one of the like "sauteed greens" dishes is really rubbish. dont order that one.

Popped in for quick bite before heading out shopping, Neither of us were starving but as always the food was amazing!Service is always exceptional, even though they were very busy the wait staff take their time and were atentive and informative.Wine choice was a nice little Pinot Noir which was a perfect recomendation. We shared a small plate of Chicken Bao , followed with a pumpkin dip then we had Pho Bo

Great place. The rooftop terrace is beautiful. Food was good and spicy. Only one minor issue. Staff could give more advice on menu choice. Lots of meat/chicken and not much sauce or veggies in our meal.
