No better bakery. I am new in the area of Meadowlands and a friend had mentioned that I should go downtown Rutherford on weekends and stroll the road in autumn. This is where my husband and I came across this treasure! From the second we went into we were so politely greeted by the girl at the counter, what a treasure! We didn't even feel fast when we stormed through their huge selection of treats. The girl at the counter was kind to answer all our questions and get us exactly what we wanted! She even offered some suggestions of restaurants and things to do in the area. I can't expect to call myself regularly at this bakery!
I stopped in at Vallemann 's Bake Shop last month, Nov. 2021..Back in the Area now, was happy to see they are still in Rutherford. Same Warm, Friendly greeting when you enter. I noticed the Rice Pudding Bread Pudding.. Looked like my Mom 'S old Receipe.. I had to try them. So Excellent , Perfection !!! I just ordered each to surprise my Brother for after our Family Christmas Dinner! The great memories of these Nastalgic Deserts will bring Happy Memories!!!
I love Varrelmanns! This is a Rutherford stable that has not changed for good reason: Why mess with perfection? Of course you have the standard bakery tea of cakes, cakes and donuts that are very pleasant, but you want to get in for their butter cookies! They throw an old recipe, and for good reason! Come in and enjoy!
Ordered a German chocolate cake with chocolate mousse and buttercream icing. This was 2 days before Thanksgiving and I could pick it up on Thanksgiving morning... It was just divine! This was my first experience with Varrelmann's and I will certainly try everything on the menu again.
