Victor's on Water - Reservar una mesa

We always arrive hoping Victors will finally get it right, but alas there is always something amiss. The food as usual is very good This time however, took far too long to arrive despite it being a very slow night with only half the tables filled. We wonder if the mixed reviews or lack of locals being regulars has hurt Victors, hopefully not beyond repair. Overall we had a tasty meal, with calamari to start that was nicely breaded and flash fried. Followed with their great string bean salad. Great location in Excelsior, celebrating an anniversary, staff never really asked, we were seated at an unusually small table nestled next to a large group that came in behind us, the poor waitress couldn't even serve without hitting one of us. Limited menu, they were out of an appetizer we wanted, ordered scallops and duck, was just ok, very fatty piece of duck. We were looking forward to going to the basement bar for some music only to learn it was not even open. Could be so much more.

Ambiance was very comfortable and bright as we were sitting by the window which was enjoyable. Spaghetti noodles cooked eldente perfectly, but the meatballs were less than desirable. My wife had a pizza which was good. The price for the spaghetti is what is the kicker here. Was expecting a much better performance. The service was nice, as they did not seem to want to push you out the door. 1.5 hour date with a dessert.

We went to dinner at this place to celebrate our son going to college. The food was mediocre at best, the interior was bland and lacked charm. The price point was high and I wouldn't recommend this place for families at all.

We have been to Victors several times and are always pleased with our time there. The menu changes occasionally so it's fun to try new things. Service is always superior.
