Very good Greek fare without a wow. We had a big meal of ribs and another of calamari. Both were very good, but not a standout from other standard Greek restaurants in western Canada. Once one knows the best of any ethnic food, it 's easy to discern those that are not at or near the top. But that said, if you are passing through Revelstoke at meal time, drop down into the city core and check out Zala 's? It is worth it. I 've tried to eat worse in the core of large cities and would pick Zala 's over them. As well, the city has done a lot of work to refurbish the city to attract people off the highway and away from all those phony fast-food joints that are pretenders when it comes to nutritio...
What an odd combo to have in a restaurant, pizza and steaks. Overall the place is very dark. Black walls, bricks with red accents. It takes a very long time to get your food. Really long time. It would have been nice if the staff have had come by and check in on us or tell us why it was taking so long. It also took a very long time to get our drinks. The pizza was burned. The steaks were fine. Mine was overcooked per my request. I have had better and I have had worst. The way the do the fixings for the baked potato is odd. Why not leave it at the table? The wait times were not acceptable. If I was back in the area I wouldn't come back.
My husband and I were on our way through Revelstoke, and needed a small bite, but weren't sure what we wanted. We saw Zalas and decided to check it out. We weren't disappointed! We both chose an appetizer and they were great! I had cute little perogys loaded with cheese and green onion, and baked to perfection! More than enough for a meal. My hubby had garlic shrimp that were also fantastic! I just wish we had gotten the name of our server, tiny little thing, but she bent over backward, and we had a delightful conversation with her. We will definitely come again, next time we drive through!
SLOW service. Took more than 15 minutes until a waitress acknowledged us. Another 10 minutes to get our drinks, so almost a half hour of sitting there thirsty. Ordered pizza and it was probably equal to one of the chain pizza places. Decent amout of cheese but low quality. No stringiness or flavor. Minimal toppings. Quite disappointing. To the manager... You might want to consider more staff. We would have definitely had at least a couple more drinks each if the bar wasn't so slow getting them out. Bartender was working his butt off but could not keep up on his own.
Had dinner here last night, absolutely delicious!! Shannon was very helpful with her recommendations, both with food and drink (I hate servers that say I don 't know? Know your product, taste your **** product!! I had the ribeye with spaghetti and wife had vegetarian lasagna, and for appies we had calamari.... If I 'm ever back in Revelstoke, I will definitely be hitting Zalas up, for sure!! Thanks Shannon for the 5 star service!!
Got to the restaurant at 5:30. Waited for a seat. Once seated were told that our waitress might be a while. We drank water for one hour. And watched people seated after us get their drink orders and order their food. The waitress walked around our table three times without acknowledgement. We finally got up and left. Went to Nico's Pizzeria. Fabulous service and food!
Very popular eatery in Revelstoke, B.C. A major travelling hub heading to Alberta or the Kootenays. Have never dined here. However have picked up pizza a few times.Great atmosphere, always packed. Excellent service. Pizza delicious ?My only problem..... I can get anchovies on my Zalas special, but they don't have smoked Oysters ?
Great gem in Revelstoke. Just passing thru to Vancouver. Saw that they had good reviews so we stopped. They were right. The group had 3 different steaks and a Hawaiian pizza. All amazing. Service was friendly and on the mark. Two Thumbs way up! Wish I lived closer, I would make this place my regular dinner spot.
