It's amazing how many restaurants are open at 4pm. Luckily we managed to stumble along Asian Tea House. The appearance seems like any Chinese takeaway restaurant, where the counter was piled with duck, chicken carcasses. Colour was nice and vibrant, although the lighting could have been a bit brighter towards the back. Table layout was very simple, something you'd find at a budget restaurant. Ordering is at the front counter, and the menu was both behind the counter wall, as well as on a piece of A4 paper. The food arrived about 10-15 minutes later which is pretty good. We have been here quite a few times over the past few years, and the food has always been consistently tasty (especially their lotus leaf rices). Unfortunately I can't say the same for their drinks. I had ordered a red bean bubble pearl, but I think with the miscommunication, I received a red bean ice instead. Normally I wouldn't have an issue, but what arrived was just so watery and bland. It's like they had diluted the milk down with water (no ice or ice-cream). It is something I will never order again.
In the main shopping area, in an area now full of restaurants, this one is a stayer, having been there almost since being built. Chosen a a place to eat based on it being full of students from Asia, so probably close to authentic, and cheap enough to visit regularly. The Laksa is lovely and not too spicy for the European taste buds!
We found Asian Tea House totally by accident as I was shopping at Woolworth and decided to check out the neighbourhood. I brought my family and went with our instinct into Asian Tea House rather than the Noodle Box next door. We made the right choice. The fried noodles were delicious, the specialty rice in lotus leaf was yummy!

This place has withstood the test of time being there since the beginning of Gungahlin. The food is delicious but the décor is street vendor like. Staff are always pleasant and obliging. But if you want a treat try the hong kong style chicken curry and rice. It is the real deal.
I go here often for laksa. The pricing is really reasonable and they provide good take away packaging and cutlery. While it's nothing amazing, the service is friendly and polite and the food is tasty.
The food is amazing and they are always very large serves. Fresh veggies and tasty meat and sauces, well cooked rice and friendly service. Basic eating space but lean.
You must try the stir-fry chicken hand made noodles - they're delicious, and even gets the thumbs up from fussy ones in the family.

Ordered combination laksa tonight. It was cold with three prawns and four pieces of meat. No veggies Tasted disgusting.
