It is hard to describe how angry we were with this restaurant. I think it was probably the worst (out of hundreds) of dining experiences we have had in France (or anywhere). Our food was poor, tough and badly flavoured. We complained after only eating half of our main course, and requested that instead of dessert we receive a discount on the 3 course set menu. The surly young waiter said this was not possible, so we asked to see the proprietor. Eventually they presented us with a bill that was reduced by 6 euros (about 10%). We stopped late on a Saturday lunchtime, when it appeared the place was winding down; by the time we left it was packed, as others stopped, asked the question (sometiumes very tentatively) and were accomodated on the pleasant patio outside the front of the auberge, in the main square. That included a party of eleven, passing on the off chance like us, but arriving well after two pm.What attracted us were the day's specials, written on the blackboard outside. We had walked in to town from Le Vivier and wanted a simple, but good lunch. We were not disappointed. The staff coped with my appalling French. The three course lunch was perfect for an early summer day and the pot of local Rose was just the job. Thank you.We booked the whole of our family group for dinner the next day; so we can listen in on the World Cup football. Allez les Bleus!
During our stay in Fleurie we regularly had morning coffee here, which was very pleasant and relaxed - good coffee too!Our one lunch was simple, but well-prepared and reasonably priced. It was noticeable that it does significantly more business than the next door establishment. We found the young waiter friendly and helpful.Good for coffee or a simple but good meal.

I used this cafe alone one wet October Sunday, when everywhere else was closed. Its a bit scruffy, but the food is honest and well done. Its probably better on a hot summer's evening, when sitting in the square and enjoying reasonably priced, well cooked food in good company. I must return in the summer.
Fixed price lunchtime menu available from which we chose Salade Beaujolais (a warm salad with croutons, lardons and poached egg), this was excellent. A main of Sausage poached in Beaujolais and fromage blanc for desert. Nothing fancy, just plain decent food. All washed down with Fleurie wine.
Cozy restaurant run by two young guys who provide good service at good prices. Good home cooking of meat, fish, cheese, and typical eggs... The menu of the day (13 €) was excellent. Good atmosphere.
Absolutely food, simply done. Lovely service. Would recommend having a set menu. Every course was excellent and the potatoes were mouth watering.
