I wish there was a restaurant like this in Winston-Salem, NC. I would love to bring the entire staff and all the delicious food home with me in my SUV. We stumbled upon this place thanks to a recommendation from a man who overheard us talking about wanting something different. The food was incredible, earning it an A grade in my book. You will not be disappointed if you give it a try. I had cabbage, sweet potatoes with brown sugar, a cornbread muffin, and two delicious beef ribs (which can be hard to find at restaurants). My brother had meatloaf, cabbage, rice, and a cornbread muffin.

Wonderful experience, food was so good, it would make you wanna smack your Momma. Cornbread, Collards Mac'n Cheese, O.M.G.. Entrée were off the chain, Bang Bang Shrimp, Smothered Pork Chops, Stuffed Salmon, and Fried Catfish. Lots of other options just couldn't get to them all. Next I want to point out my experience with the Bar Tender Val, I remembered her name because my mom shares the same name. I always choose this restaurant whenever I'm in the DMV area. Their food is fantastic and the service is consistently incredible. There may be a wait for a table, but they also offer a carryout buffet option. I have never been disappointed here. I especially enjoy their smothered chicken and rice, as well as their mouthwatering honey muffins. The salmon was also great. This place definitely delivers authentic southern cooking.
I went to this restaurant for dinner on Sunday and want to commend them for staying open and serving the public during the pandemic. Thank you for your dedication. I also had a great experience with the bartender Val, who provided stellar service and was engaging with other patrons. The food at "kiss the chef" was delicious, hot, fresh, and the portions were generous. Thank you once again for a great dining experience.
I came to sit for the bar exam and wanted soul food. Was referred by Mr. Harris at the metro! When I tell you I had to call my Mom and tell her the truth, “Ma these are the best collards I’ve ever had in my life!” I can’t quite name the spice but they were flavorful and absolutely delicious! I’ll be carrying a plate of them back home to Georgia. Thank y’all for great service and a wonderful home style meal.
Oh man, the food is incredible! I had to eat it in stages just to savor the delicious flavors on my taste buds. And don't even get me started on the collard greens, they were amazing! My meal stayed warm for 6 hours while it was being transported to me by my daughter. This is hands down the best food I have had in a long time.
