We eat here every once in a while, and though the food is not spectacular, it is more or less a truck stop, and the food has always been simple and good. On our most recent visit, we had their special, grilled cheese sandwich and soup. The soup was quite nice, to be honest. What bumped up our rating was how friendly and personable the server was. Such a nice person! On the down side, a couple of issues: the credit card machine is not wireless, so to use it, you have to go to the wait station, and sometimes it's hard to follow the instructions. Wanted to stop for lunch, but didn 't want to spend the time to go into Canmore, so we stopped here (easy off the highway for the first time. Traditional truck stop fare, we thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the service was great. My husband had a cheddar bacon burger and it was excellent, as were the fries (home cut? and gravy on the side; I had the not so big omelette (2 eggs 2 ingredients which came with toast home-fries, it too was excellent. We noted the price of gas and were surprised to get back to Calgary and find that gas at Costco was only one cent less per litre (we try to avoid fueling up in Canmore as the gas seems very over-priced . We had the traditional breakfast, bacon was really good, large portions and fast service. We were hoping for shredded potato hash browns like in the menu picture, they were small cubed hash browns still good enough, and to be fair the menu did indicate they may vary by location. Server was friendly but not overbearing. Came to just shy of $30 for 2 meals, a coffee and a chocolate milk. It was closed later around 7pm for dinner, but it was a snowstorm so perhaps the staff couldn't make it. Pretty good all in all for being a gas station restaurant in a tiny but beautiful mountain stop town.
Horrible service from two lazy attendants when I tried to pay for gas in advance. The pump was out of order, so I went inside to see if there was an issue. The two lazy attendants just stared at me and didn't say anything. When I asked again, they just shrugged. This is not the kind of hospitality Alberta is known for. My family stops at this gas station at least 20 times a year, but after this experience, we won't be returning. These employees are truly disappointing.
