Busy and popular pub that specialises in good food and a relaxed atmosphere (it's like sitting on your sofa at home). Does real ale, including the odd festival, although I have noticed a decline in the beer standard selection there recently. Service is good when it's not packed, but when it is expect delays! Definitely a place for middle class, middle aged folk like me who enjoy a decent drink and chat without having their eardrums assaulted by loud music or children. Visited again 5/6/10 for a pint of Greene King Thirsty Dragon (admirably dispensed as part of a breast cancer charity campiagn), the beer being slowly served and chemically tasted. Fairly standard chain style pub, an Ember pub if I'm not mistaken. I visited on the occasion of a relative's funeral. The staff were courteous and the the buffet was very pleasant, they had cordoned an area of the pub off for us and we were well treated throughout. The pub is pleasantly decorated and spacious and I noticed various meal deals advertised such as steak nights, two pizzas for £8 on a Monday, two burgers for £10 on a Tuesday etc. They also have quiz nights on twice a week. There were some cask beers on but it was a little early in the day to partake so I can't comment on their quality, I also noticed that there seemed to be a good selection of wine available. Castle Gardens used to be great, the meals, service and staff here have always been excellent. My partner and I have been coming here on average once every 4-5 wèeks for about 18 months. Unfortunately tonight's experience was a disaster. We came with friends tonight so 4 meals. Cremated steak was the 1st disaster, after complaining a replacement was fetched but again not much better . The 2nd Steak meal again was over cooked, should of been medium rare. My partner had rib of beef that was lovely apart from the vegetables where under cooked and hard. All the meals where served on cold plates. Not a good experience tonight. Such a shame Castle Gardens.
My wife and I visited the restaurant at 1:50 on July 18, 2017 to avoid the lunch rush and placed our order. After waiting for 25 minutes, my wife asked if there was an issue. The waitress checked with the kitchen and returned a few minutes later with our meals, saying they were being plated. Despite coming straight from the kitchen, I was disappointed to find that the chips were only lukewarm and soft, and the slow-cooked belly had no flavor. This was surprising and disappointing for both my wife and I, as we are regular customers at this restaurant. We are not sure if there was a new chef in the kitchen.

A stones throw from my sisters house in Poulton The Castle Gardens is the local pub and eatery. It 's family friendly, which is excellent for my niece and nephew, but means that it 's so busy all the time! The food is traditional pub fare, some good dishes and some that missed the mark for me. I 've been here a lot over the years and this time, although my bangers and mash were 'OK ', it has been better on other occasions. It 's good in the summer though, as there 's a nice outdoor seating area.

This is a great place to go for food in the evening, lovely atmosphere and the quiz nights are always good for a laugh with friends too. Sometimes it can be hard to get a decent table, but worth waiting for the ones in the windows as it feels so cosy in the winter! Food is very nice, at reasonable prices, although I wouldn't expect gourmet food! It is good for just a drinks night too it's not all just food.
Been attending the pub on a regular basis since august and the food and service was excellent as always. Really nice bar staff and very friendly especially Rachel. Always helps by signing in to use the pubs WiFi you get discount vouchers for the next time you go. Dog friendly water for them available.

This is an exeptional public house and the food is of an exeptional standard,its a little remote buts worth the trip, staff are friendly, beer ,good wines, what more does one want?
This pub is a great spot for both delicious food and drinks. It is well-managed and the service is excellent. They offer a variety of cask beers and have a wide-ranging menu.
