Had a terrible night at Hobsons. Poorly trained staff who were unable to get drink or meal orders correct and appeared not too pleased when the drinks error was mentioned. The service was extremely slow and they took too long to take our dinner order. After waiting some time for our meals we found out that our order had not been passed on to the kitchen! We were seated for over an hour and a half before we received our meals! Mixed feeling on the quality of the meals that we felt had been quickly put together because of the delay.I also observed one of our party speaking to the manager as we left and was not impressed with watching the manager continue to clear the mats from around the bar r...
Went on a Sunday for lunch, having parked in the almost empty carpark behind and were served by a friendly waitress. We all ordered the special roast (lamb) for $19.50 including a beer or cider. It came in good time and was nicely cooked with a good selection of veges and crunchy roast potatoes. The lamb seemed a little tough, but we suspected sharper knives would assist, as it was fine to eat. (Do restaurants ever sharpen their knives?) The waiter was also very knowledgable when helping to choose wine. All in all a pleasant, stress free, well priced meal in a traditional, friendly pub which wasn't too busy and had plenty of room and easy parking.
We recently had a family dinner (Tuesday 7/2/17) for my son's 21st at Hobson's. Everything was spot on. The staff were super efficient as well as friendly in a relaxed atmosphere. No request was too hard for our family (from 10 to 92) and our meals arrived on time like clockwork and were all really good. They even have their own "house brew" made for them by Cooper's. Some reviewers complain about the prices but the Sandy pub across the road is generally more expensive etc. etc. My son returned with some mates the following Friday and they were looked after very well. Sure, it's not Vue de Monde but what you get is well worth it.
We had a lovely evening here. The food was delicious and the ambience was warm and friendly. The only slight negative is that the food was a little more expensive than we anticipated for casual pub grub. We often go here just for a drink at the bar. The menu was exciting with lots of options. The staff were very efficient and helpful with meal choices. The food was served hot and there was ample of it on each plate. The host/owner visited our table to ensure we were enjoying the night and suggested nice wines to accompany or meal selection. A lovely venue to relax and enjoy the atmosphere of an old building.
We ate here as a family of four adults for my sons birthday. I have to say I was pretty disappointed. We waited quite some time for the food to arrive and it was fairly mediocre, just pub meals. We used to eat here quite regularly when the kids were younger. There were different owners then and the food was of high quality. Not so now - we won't bother again.
