Just what the doctor ordered. Literally. Who has a great day that starts in a hospital waiting room in an unfamiliar city? Yeah. I don’t know of anybody either. I relied on a recommendation from a hospital employee for someplace to go for a good burger and a beer. Their answer? “Hands down, Hopcat. It’s real close. My brother and I were seated right away on a Saturday evening at dinner time. We started with the boneless honey sriracha wings for an appetizer, which were just okay. I ordered the super club wrap with fries and it was delicious. My brother enjoyed his mac and cheese bowl with breadcrumbs and chicken. The craft flights were a bit unique - they were served in 6 ounce tulip glasses in sets of 3, with each one individually priced. The restaurant had a good selection of popular craft beers. The noise level could get loud, but the decor was nostalgic with a 70s and 80s band theme, featuring velvet pictures, posters, and artwork on both floors. We originally stared going to the Royal Oak location, but there was an hour wait. We called and were told there was not a wait at the time in Detroit. We were out celebrating my son's birthday. He was the only one in our group that has ever been to HopCat. Our waitress was excellent very patient with us. We took awhile deciding on our drinks and food with so many different interesting choices. My son I had the grilled cheese. It was delicious, large enough that we should have split it. My experience at HopCat downtown after the Detroit Tigers game was just okay. The food was average, with my boneless chicken wings being mediocre but the fries were tasty. I would give the food a rating of 3.5 out of 5 stars. The waitress was friendly and tried her best, but seemed overwhelmed. I believe this may have been due to understaffing, a common issue in restaurants since the pandemic started. I would rate the wait staff 4 out of 5 stars. Unfortunately, the restroom was a disaster. There was an overflow of paper towels on the floor, no toilet paper in the stall, and it was just overall unclean. I would give the restroom 0 out of 5 stars. The restaurant was bustling with a wide selection of beers. Unfortunately, my server forgot about my beer order and I had to walk up to the bar after waiting for 10 minutes. The service remained slow throughout the meal. The adobo chicken tacos were disappointing as they lacked flavor and had minimal poblano and onion. The shredded chicken did not live up to the expectation of braised adobo chicken as described on the menu. The chipotle chicken melt was also not recommended. On a positive note, the Distorter beer I ordered was delicious. Overall, the experience was not the best but tolerable.

I absolutely loved this place. I'm glad I was with craft beer loving Detroit natives that seem to love every HopFlower of a beer joint there's a lot of brewers )in and around Detroit. I enjoyed everything I had to eat and look forward to checking out the HopCat in Chicago, I feel like this place is top notch! I think I was conversing with such good people that I never stopped to judge the staff, didn't really look/care for anything to rub me the wrong way!

We had a great visit. It was Tuesday night and we happened to arrive just in time for 7pm trivia. It was quick to be seated and food arrived in a timely manner. We stayed for trivia and even won a HopCat gift card. The food was delicious. The fries, thepretzels with spicy mustard and the buffalo rolls were fantastic! We tried the burgers but I'm not a huge fan of smash burgersso I thought they were great but not the best. Overall it was a nice night out.

This place was absolutely fantastic. Our family went in the afternoon and it was a great experience! In fact, we loved it so much we just decided to go back after the concert we went to. And I will say- Jordan the server got his butt kicked but was so beyond fantastic with his service and honesty. So happy with the hospitality, great beer selection and the food. FANTASTIC. Loaded Cosmik fries are amazingly good. I also got the Buffalo wraps and chicken wings. Online showed they had Reuben rolls on the menu but when we ordered it wasn't available so that was my only bummer. Sometimes I forget this is a close option near theFisher Bldg. Will order from here again.

We had a great experience! Mike, our server, was knowledgeable and made great suggestions. The beer was cold and yummy! My turkey burger was delish! Fun vibe and a beautiful day in the D!
