hidden behind the subway on woolley street in dickson is kickstart espresso, a new caffe with Toby’s estate coffee, breakfaststoasties and speck and egg rolls, smoothies and healthy sandwiches and roll. they will notice the padded wooden boxes and beautiful wooden tables outside. the wooden furniture continues in the inner and decorate the front counter. the caffe is tiny with only two small tables that fit inside. The Outback theme is prominent with rustic metal sheets that are the bottom of a wall and the R.M williams signage. This place is hidden away in the alley way between Subway and KFC. It's basically a hole-in-the-wall coffee shop serving great coffee, and home made baked goods. It's a hidden gem, and delivers a consistently good coffee, using Toby's Estate coffee. No tables, just some wooden crates on the footpath, so most of the trade looks like takeaway. The cooked on premises slices I've tried have all been good.The place must have something right, there are many regulars and the staff know people by name. The "Expresso" refers to the counter is almost curb side. You could drive up and sing your order out through the window of your car, if you're really in that much of a rush to get to work.
from the minute we entered, the three people behind the theke chatted us, joked with us and were simply friendly without wankiness they can get in a lot of caffes in canberra! coffee was solid, speck and egg roll mommy, and the addition of a little cake on our coffee was a nice note. the faithful card system stored on the file is a good idea, and I can imagine how this location will build a faithful succession and have their master guests who come back pure for the friendly service.
Just spent a week in Canberra and discovered this place on our last day, what a shame! I drink a long black with a shot of cream, not a single coffee shop (barista) got it right (even the supposed best places in the ACT) Kickstart got the coffee, service and overall friendly vibe 100%! I visit Canberra regularly and will be skipping Braddon and Manuka in future, this place will be my 1st choice. Happy customer:)

Exceptional coffee and the most gracious owners of a business you will ever meet. I miss the place and if you live in Canberra or just visit this is a must for coffee addictive and health conscious foodies.
If you are specific with your coffee order, the coffee outcome is excellent. Their bacon and egg and roasted tomato Turkish bread is a divine way to start the day. The #earlyCBR opening is welcome.

Kickstart is an enjoyable fast, hot coffee from the comfort of your car. The food is country and home style and really satisfying. This is my favourite coffee in Canberra!
