Marugame is always a fun treat! My family and I prefer coming to the San Ramon location as opposed to the one in Berkeley. There's plenty of shops around and a convenient parking garage. There's plenty of choices to choose from including add ons. My sister and I ordered a large Nikutama (delicious sweet beef and shared it. There's some to go utensils by the soda fountain, where customers can grab containers, utensils, sauces, etc. We just used one of the to go containers as a bowl when we shared. Solid udon place at The Lot in San Ramon. Visited twice once with a good friend to celebrate her birthday, and once with the missus and kids. Here are the top three standouts from both visits: 1. Nikutama Udon both the sweet Regular and spicy Curry versions are a good choice if you want to try something fancy $13.95). 2. All the tempuras are excellent the squid was my favorite, with the big chicken katsu a close second $1.95 to $4.75) 3. If you want something inexpensive yet soothing and filling you can't go wrong with the large Kake Udon $6.95). Looking forward to my next visit.
Marugame udon is the spot to go to for your udon or just noodle cravings! We love coming here for lunch or dinner when we are nearby. It is located in the Bishop Ranch shopping center. Lots of free parking in their parking garage. I love getting the tonkatsu udon here and you can also get some onion and tempura flakes for your udon as well if you wish! Tempura sides are an add on if you want a bit more variety and food. Noodles are always yummy and flavorful. Once you get your food and pay, you can find a seat indoor or outdoor. Highly recommend if you haven't been here before!
The food was tasty, but my wife and I were both disappointed that the broth wasn't hot. When we sat down to eat, the broth was only lukewarm at best. The noodles were also very long and difficult to manage, but that could be a personal preference. Overall, the food was good for the price. We plan on giving it another try on a different day in hopes that the broth is served hot.

Service and the line move fast Udon texture is chewy and not too thick just right. Portion side is skinny but can make it up with the choice of tempura sides that are freshly fried , food is good and fresh, the broth is a bit overpowering but is still good it The only down side is the place is busy and not enough staff to clean the table for the next customers
I really enjoyed my udon noodles! I ordered the low-sodium noodles with egg and zucchini, while my daughter got the BK noodles with zucchini. Both dishes were delicious and we were pleasantly surprised that the total bill for both dishes was less than $20. We will definitely be returning to this restaurant!
Felt like Fast food Japanese food.... I guess I was expecting little bit more from my experience at other locations I have tried. The broth is overly salty. The temperature shrimp and the Ika was soggy. The croquet was very oily. The udon noodles were over cooked
The food at this restaurant is consistently delicious, even when getting takeout. The staff is friendly both in person and over the phone. The restaurant is clean and it is easy to help oneself to utensils and other items.

Delicious food, great service, and clean dining area. Also price can't be beat, around $30 for two without drinks. Recommend looking at the menu beforehand if you're new as you basically walk right into the line to order.
Every time I come here I want to try something new but the Nikutama Udon bowl is just too good. Hands down some of the BEST broth I have ever had. This place is always packed and for good reason!
