Having visited this restaurant at least once a year, we we're keen to go following their revamp, which we did during the Melbourne comedy festival at Easter. So good we quickly rebooked for our wedding anniversary Sat June 3rd.This time it was incredibly poor. We couldn't have the 'chefs journey' as the waiter told us the kitchen was too busy. Seriously? Why have it on the menu if you can't deliver it.Further to this the service was so random, we questioned it, and we're told. Pure South has been a consistent restaurant of quality and service. We have dined here on average three times a year for more than 10 years and have never been disappointed. Menu is succinct and that makes life so much better. Choices are easy and the food is the freshest you'll ever find. Wine list is wide and good variety but recommend asking staff for a recommendation to finish off your nightcap. Steaks are always cooked exactly as you ask and the beef cheek is always brilliant. Pannacotta is unique in its combination of flavour and textures so I'd highly recommend this one as well.
Third visit in total, but first time back after renovation. Went upstairs and decided on choosing a la carte. Ordered the cured kingfish (delicious!!!), then the scallops (also very nice). Wasn't going to order dessert but the panacotta was calling... Food was very nicely plated (so if you are into instagram or posting on fb etc) Overall, food was excellent, service was very professional, will definitely be back! thank you for the lovely meal.
The food was really good but after waiting 47 minutes from when our entree plates were taken from the table until our meal we could not really appreciate it.No apologies were made for the long wait and no compensation offered,Very large and very noisy with staff not well equipped to handle the long wait timesWould not hurry to return

We had a great breakfast here right on the Yarra river next to flinders street railway station great section of food and fantastic coffee also freshly squeezed juices what a way to start the day very friendly and helpful staff highly recommend
The food was amazing. You must try the broccoli donughts. The service matched the food. Outstanding. Great night out and can't wait to go again. If you not an alcohol drinker then try their on the spot mock tails. Superb.
As downstairs was full, we decided to eat upstairs in the Dining Room. A good choice. Attentive and friendly staff gave good advice as to size of servings. Food presentation was excellent and was matched by the taste.
Been here a few times in recent years. Nice surprise with the refurb. Very well done. Christmas dinner! Great service and atmosphere. Great diner and wine. Manager was very nice and engaging. Will be back!

Had an early booking due to theatre commitments staff acknowledged and we completed our meal in time to make the curtain going upTime was of the essence so only indulged in main course
The atmosphere was fantastic! The service excellent! We have the 'Feed Me' package which was a tasting of 6 dishes and it was beautiful and kept us entertained for 90 minutes.
