After plenty of recommendations from friends my wife and I decided it was time to try out the Royal Oak ! My wife called Sunday morning and spoke to a young worker called Charlotte who’s service was simply impeccable from start to finish. She was extremely polite on the phone whilst taking our booking and helpful, this was still the case when we arrived a few hours later for our table. I stayed here for three nights and everything about my stay was perfect. The room was very comfortable and warm and everything was spotless. The ensuite bathroom had everything well positioned and was also spotless. There was plenty of wardrobe and cupboard space along with additional pillows and blankets if required. The tea coffee tray was well stocked and there was even a small TV in the room. The breakfast was hearty and cooked to order which is rarity these days! We chose this venue based on the Trip Advisor reviews while we were staying at Garstang for the weekend. We were fortunate to get a table on arrival as it is clearly very popular and many tables were reserved or occupied. A varied menu and list of specials offered options for us needing vegetarian and gluten-free meals. Our meals were delicious and home cooked. The drinks were also good value. The staff were friendly and efficient. We would recommend eating/drinking here!
I have also started ordering a side of onion rings, which are delicious. The restaurant is located in an old coaching house, which adds to its charm and character, making it a really relaxing place to have lunch. I can't fault it - 10/10. A special mention to Charlotte, who was incredibly helpful and made sure we had everything we needed.
P.S. I also managed to have a dessert and even captured a photo - a blue banana ice cream, who would have thought!

My friends and I had a great meal at this restaurant and were very impressed by the quality of the food and the reasonable prices. The pub was bustling, but the restaurant areas were calm and the service was excellent. The menu had a wide variety of options, and we appreciated the homemade dishes that were a nice change from typical corporate fare. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be back the next time we are in town.
Great traditional pub. We visited with friends after the Christmas lights switch on. Very busy but managed to find a table. Despite it being busy food served pretty quick. I had gammon eggs spot on, good portion freshly cooked with great veg on the side. Service efficient friendly. Rest of our group all commented on the quality of the food.
The Royal Oak is welcoming, individual, characterful but far from pretentious. A sunday feast shared with precious friends. Food was great, locally sourced and served piping hot from the kitchen with outstanding customer service in fact, exceptional service! A hidden gem in Garstang and highly recommended!!
We have dined at this restaurant twice now and both times the food has been excellent and reasonably priced. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We highly recommend trying the salmon dish - it comes in a generous portion and is well-priced.

Monday lunch visit. I had ploughman’s, big portion, lovely cheese presentation is superb. Staff always friendly helpful. Lots of seating out the front a bit more in the car park which is a bit more shaded on a hot day.
Stayed for 3 nights it was fantastic The meals were great Bedrooms luvly and clean Staff were great and very polite especially the you girl who looked after us in restaurant
