Yesterday four friends and I enjoyed a delightful Melbourne Cup lunch where we were served beautifully presented dishes - top quality and delicious. I must congratulate the Chef on the vegetarian dish that I had (so good) and my friends enjoyed their fish and steak dishes also. The service, the staff and the running of the sweeps was very well done. We didn't realise that it was a set price menu when we made our reservation - we were just coming for a nice lunch - and we were not at all disappointed. We had a lovely afternoon which started with a glass of bubbly and finished with a glass of wine from a very good wine list.Well done to all concerned with the organising of the day.
Used to love coming here but the experience on Mothers Day was awful. We had to fit in to two sittings - 12 pm or 2 pm - no exceptions and we NOT advised that the menu was sausages and salads on a buffet table. We chose Sandstone as had always had a great meal and experience there but Mothers Day ruined that for me. I was embarrassed as I expected Mum to have a lovely experience but we just felt rushed the whole time. Food was average and not at the usual standard. I understand it was a busy day but they should be able to handle a full restaurant and offer something other than grilled sausages for the price they charge.
As a single person living in the area for around 20 years, I discovered the location and was a regular visitor, spending the equivalent of about $5k per year regularly plus the occasional splurge. The food was generally good but could be patchy. I had a bad experience and took the time to write a detailed account to the management. Zero reply, so I stopped going there and let other colleagues know. Take your chances - the result could range from poor to very good - just don't expect management to care.
As above, limited options, however in this area you're limited full stop. There was one blonde lady who went out of her way to be helpful to me and knew the wine list and took time to understand my requirements. There was a very long wait on the first night even though it was very early, the second night wasn't so bad and the lady did make some extra effort. Food was just ok and quite expensive for what it was. Coffee in the morning was just ok - but it might be Melbourne coffee vs this coffee.

Booked for dinner. Only one other table with twp people in the restaurant. Food ok but service almost totally non existent. Why couldn't two wait staff deal with two tables efficiently? Forgot to take our menus after ordering, and after delivering our meals we were ignored for the rest of the evening until time for dessert. We were told that all desserts except for pana cotta were not available. Time to give up. Were left very disappointed with the experience. We felt we were intruding!
A wonderful boutique cafe/restaurant that wont stretch the budget. All food is prepared by qualified chefs who take pride in their final presentations.We go there on a weekly basis to escape & refresh from a busy lifestyle & it works - a glass of wine, together with a fine meal - sometimes topped off by a lovely daily desert.The staff are always welcoming & support their chef very well.Overall a look forward to experience that is highly recomended
Tried to book hotel but was full up was recommended checkers resort dropped me back to checkers after reception as 133300 taxis combined did not want to take me as it was only 2 km excellent service beyond expectations
We attended two wedding receptions here in 2013. The staff were happy to sit down with us to go through all the wedding options. At the reception everything was delivered exactly as promised. Flawless.

I stayed here for three nights for work. Food was good, service was lovely and the bed was huge and lush! Very clean decent size rooms with all the usual bathroom amenities, massive shower.
