My 20 year old daughter and I had a wonderful couple of days here. The staff were so welcoming and helpful we were car free and were planning to walk into Coniston for supper on our first night but they looked at the weather and laid us out a delicious ploughman’s so we didn’t have to brave the torrential rain. We felt so comfortable, well fed and well looked after, it’s a splendid spot. We walked, we swam, we got out on the lake and watching the original Swallows and Amazons film in the comfy sitting room with the lake behind us was just the icing on the cake! We stayed in Beckfoot Cottage for a week and thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful building, outstanding views of the lake and mountains and welcoming people. We hired a boat and got out on the water easily after a good safety brief....it was so lovely and I highly recommend it if you are looking for a restorative activity! The internet was strong enough to enable me to stream a movie on the rainy day we had, and we watched it in front of a roaring fire. We did some local hill walking, easily reaching the start points.
