"I've walked passed this little gem a hundred times, why? I don't know. Finally walked in.... Beautiful authentic, tasty food. Cosy atmosphere, bake their own bagels & bread. I will most certainly be back again and again and again"

The left handed chef (LHC) is a cosy café with friendly staff and good coffee! As with most people there we were a small table of friends catching up for brunch and having a good catch up. There was a friendly atmosphere but nothing overpowering or too loud. This isn’t a place you’d bring a big group. The tables only really seat three or four people with around six tables fitting inside. There’s additional seating outside also, but again not for a big group. They also do takeaway food (including bakery), and there was a constant demand for takeaway coffees, so clearly a locals choice. Variety of food was good, brunch and lunch options with the occasional twist. We had standard brunch menu ite...

We came here after I read a blog on weekendnotes about their waffle donut. Lucky for three of us, they had three waffle donuts left when we got there! However, it was quite a disappointment as the waffle donuts were super sweet and hard! We've never had waffle donuts before and unsure if that's how they are supposed to be but when you think waffle, it's soft and when you think donut, it's also soft; so, how could waffle + donut = super hard? My brother couldn't even eat more than 1/2 of the donut as it was too hard and you get a sugar rush that made you feel sick with so much sugar on it! Their other breakfast menu looks great though - if we hadn't had our fresh oysters at the market, we may...

I used to live next door to this café and absolutely adore the coffee and food that they serve. Here you can drink really well made Melbourne latte's, flat white's etc, eat delicious meals (some with an Israeli twist, since the owner and chef is originally from there) and scrumptious cakes. You can also buy freshly baked bread to bring home. The staff is incredibly friendly and will always chat to you and make you feel welcome. I highly recommend paying a visit to the Left Handed Chef!

This little place around the corner from where we were staying in South Melbourne is fantastic. The staff there is really nice. The menu is really creative and diverse. I ended up getting the smoked salmon on brioche. It was my first breakfast in Australia and it set the bar pretty high. I also had an espresso to tag along with it. Fantastic. Would totally recommend this place and I would come back. Reserva una mesa ahora

One of the best hot chocolates I have ever tasted! It's rich and not too sweet, perfect for a boost in the morning. The food is reasonable, with wide variety of choices and healthy meals to kick start the day! The croissants is served well with salad, ham and perfectly melted cheese but it's rather a big portion so sharing is recommended if you're a small eater.

We visited the Left Handed Chef yesterday for brunch. Lovely service, warm inside and lots of yummy options on the menu. I had the 'whatever she is having' and it was delicious. The Bacon Jam is to die for! We also got a takeaway waffle donut and this was amazing. Voted Top 5 in Melbourne, so I am glad I got to try it! Yummy. Id definitely return for sure.

Absolutely love this place! Been here a few times and am yet to have something I don't like. The coffee is consistently good and the food is delicious - come with an empty stomach though as the portions are huge! Unlike other places in South Melbourne, Left-Handed Chef won't empty your wallet. Plus they always have Prince playing which is fine by me!

My parents are visiting Melbourne for the first time, LHC was the first place I took them to eat. We were all very impressed by the food (breakfast menu), coffee and service. The meals are delicious, big and very well priced. This is the second time I have been and certainly won't be the last. Reserva una mesa ahora

Had passed by and talked to the chef was really excited to go eat with a friend. Great Israeli food among other offerings, the best malaweh, Yemenite bread, delicious labne and humus, lamb skewers and their special coffee, so good, can't wait to go back
