I didn't expect greatness from this pub, but I knew they cooked a great steak when I was last there.So, my family and I went there for a meal on Saturday night to watch the Beldisloe in Wellington (Rugby) and have a meal. Our daughter ordered the salt an pepper calamari and my wife and I ordered a steak. Her's a medium rare Fillet Steak and mine a medium rare Sirloin. Both were about $35 each (ie not cheap, especially for pub food).it was a busy night, plenty of functions, and the service was very slow. My wife and I have had several mid week lunches here since the hotel was renovated under new management. We have always been met with a friendly smile and pleasant, helpful staff. One has the choice of siting in front of the bar on stools, in a more relaxing mode in the lounge, and, if you are just having a drink, enjoy the very pleasant garden area to the rear.The menu has new additions every couple of months and, from our limited experience, the food is well cooked and presented. We ate here a year ago and came away feeling it had been an average pub meal. But this time our group of eight were very pleased indeed with the quality of the meals.I had the best fish and chips for years. You might think so what - but there is a world of difference between average fish in standard batter served with usual chips, and what I ate tonight. The fish was in a thin, superbly herbed batter, and the chips were gorgeous, complemented by a flavoursome salad and dipping sauce. Have eaten here before but usually drinks . . they have spent an absolute fortune on this place with refurbishments and the beautiful oasis courtyard but I feel the owners must be pulling their hair out as sadly they have not invested in quality staff . . their attitude is abysmal , recently after checking my phone I needed to access WiFi and asked one of the members of staff only to be told we don't have it . . .when I showed my phone to show they did . . . I was curtly told it "was not for customers" . . . I mean come on . . its 2017 even bamboo coffee shops in Cambodia are better served with technology

Attended a friends 50th birthday here in the restaurant area upstairs. Really great bar service and food. The food kept on coming which was nice whislt you were drinking and chatting with friends. Standing room mostly so perhaps a few more chairs to rest during the evening but overall a really great venue. Had the rugby on the big screen which was nice to watch during the evening.
I was really quite surprised at the quality of the meal I had when dined at the hotel for dinner. It had been quite a number of years since I had frequented the venue and It certainly has had a makeover. Will definitely dine in again.
Booked a table for a small group. Drinks and snacks then dinner for all. I had the panko crumbed chicken with peppercorn sauce ...everyone else enjoyed their meals (which all looked good).
Great place for a cold drink and a counter meal. Friday night entertainment helped to make the night most memorable. GReat place to unwind on a Friday arv after work.

Went for a drink, very spacious and clean . Loved the booths. Nice outdoor dining area. Loved the different coloured vodka. Great service.
