A early afternoon sat lunch, couldn't believe how busy it was when we went through door, still a few tables available, the problem was they were all stacked up with plates etc, folk were clearing their onto unused ones. Could see there was a constant stream of food and drink coming out but they weren't taking anything back, looked like well understaffed. The few that were there were just rushing bringing food out. The carpet was awash with old food an napkins etc where families had been sat. If it hadn't been cold out I would have sat outside. We'd paid for parking so determined to get something to eat. Ordered off the app and didn't wait long. Food was ok and typical spoons scran.
This is a common place for us to visit, it is always extremely busy- so expect a loud area while eating- but understandable so as the service is quick, staff are very friendly, and the food is good too! The only problem we have had is on one occasion where I ordered the burger and chips and the burger had a weird taste to it, my boyfriend managed to call over a waiter and the lady was very kind about the situation and went to the chefs to get me a fresh burger. Service: 5/5 Food: 4/5
I wonder when the staff at Poulton Elk will realize that it's a good idea to turn on the heating during the winter months. It's bizarre that they have the air conditioning blasting cold air when it's only 1 to 2 degrees outside. The restaurant feels colder than the outdoor temperature, especially when certain managers are on duty. They should consider lighting a fire to make the atmosphere more comfortable for diners.
My family of 10 comes to this restaurant every Christmas Eve, so our orders at the bar are always quite complicated. However, everything went smoothly. The ale and food were both excellent, and Rebecca was very patient and friendly at the till. The rest of the staff also provided impeccable service. It really made our day!

A lovely lad on the 19/4 just finished his shift at 10 as he was clearing up tables around us and he had gone to help another staff member who needed help even though he wasn’t on his shift. He was very kind and welcoming whilst i was here. You’re so lucky to have such a nice team member.
Have eaten here on many occasions and always found the food excellent, hot and plentiful. However today I went for my usual fish chips the battered fish was saturated in rank oil the chips burnt again tasting of used stale oil virtually inedible. So disappointed in the whole meal.
Has anyone else noticed that suddenly the chicken in the chicken tikka Marsala is now sinewy ,hard and cardboard like .. has there been a change of supplier. Or what? Please change it back. Used to be so good
I had a wonderful lunch during Christmas and New Year at this restaurant. The surroundings were pleasant, the pub was clean, and they had a great bar. The food was delicious and the staff were friendly.

Got asked by a cheeky guy called Charles who thought it ok to have booze sent to his table non gratis and that gullible people would happily get him pissed for nowt.
Modern interior very nice wetherspoons superb town .nice garden seating area front and rear piping hot food 10/10 from me
