First time customer .... I can 't fault the chips and the little pot of curry sauce was just as pleasing ... The food is LOVELY and the staff are polite and accommodating ... My only gripe is that one of the reviews on here have indicated the chips are cooked in beef dripping if I had known this in advance I would not have eaten them (as I don 't eat beef or dripping of any sort). I will check with the owner and avoid in future if this is the case ... I still highly recommend 'The Willow ' to those who enjoy (or would like to experience) their food deep fried in beef dripping ... The chips are lovely ...
The first time I went to this restaurant, I went with a friend who knows good food, and she was right—everything was cooked to perfection. I've been back several times, and the quality has remained consistent. This is the only fish and chips place where I don't feel guilty about indulging; there's no lingering aftertaste the next day!
I would describe this restaurant as a classic English chip shop. The food is delicious, and you certainly get a generous portion. I visited yesterday with my son, and the staff were very kind. We will definitely return!

Beautiful chips and batter, best I've had and good price too. Shame the cod was just too bland, with little to no taste, but that's cod in general for you.
Old fashioned fish n chips cooked in beef dripping no veg oil here just the best chippy in wallsend.
