This sweet little lady of Williamstown often described as the most English pub outside of England is a quiet little gem who lost her shine in the dining room for a while there. BUT she's back with a vengence. As a local you know the secrets out that a place has it's MOJO back when you book for dinner only to find that half your neighbours have done the same thing. The fish of the day was fresh abundant and flavoursome. My husband found his rib eye cooked to perfection (he likes it blue) and all the trimmings offered. Great friendly service and the locals are flocking back to this place like they never left Welcome home to the Stags Head

The Stags Head is a traditional Melbourne pub, with a public bar (with open fire), parlor, and a dining room. The kitchen opens at 4pm on Wednesday to Saturday and noon on Sunday. The staff are friendly and give good advice and the range of meals is typical of an era, but now offers some additional items. There are tables outside, but the rain kept me indoors. I was adventurous and tried the vegetarian parmagiana. This consisted of two was pattys of chick pea and lentils, with a spicy tomato sauce and cheese on top. There was mashed potato, steamed carrot, and broccoli. Prices are not high.

Pub certainly looked as old as it is and looked a bit unloved when we arrived a bit early, but once seated we were well looked after. Excellent food and service, although as they were heavily booked this Sunday lunch, a dessert and a coffee went missing for a while. The prices were reasonable and portions plentiful (and pleased to report clean toilets). Another plus for busy Williamstown was plentiful parking.

Walked in on a Friday night and were found a table immediately. Food was excellent, we had linguine and the Moroccan lamb, both dishes were well presented and delicious. Beer was cold and there is a good choice as well as wines by the glass. One of the best meals in Williamstown and away from the Main Street so is a bit quieter. We will certainly return.
